Racing videos

Back in the mid nineties, I was doing some club racing with SCCA and EMRA.  Here are some video lips from that time.

Bridgehampton, NY (wmv 8.8 meg)   Here is some footage from the now extinct Bridgehampton racetrack.  This was my first race and I didn't do too well.  It still is nice to watch though - remembering my old friends.  This was around September 1996  The camera shots were taken from the spectator area overlooking the famous downhill section, turns 1 and 2.

Summit Point, West Virginia (wmv 2.0 meg)  Same race.  My friend Yan Tom loses it as he tries to catch me through the right hand sweeper.

In car, Bridgehampton (wmv, 8.4 meg)  Some bad in-car footage of race practice in the rain.  Coming out of turn 13, you see a car off on drivers right.  It's one of those tall Mustangs!  This may be Jack Mount???  Coming down the hill, you can see the rain-x doing it's job quite nicely.  The camera shake is almost intolerable.  I think that's Rob Myles in the 1st gen RX7.

Fernando In car, Bridgehampton (wmv, 4.6 meg)  Some in-car from my friend Fernando at Bridghampton.  For some reason, he had to start the race from the back of the field.  Not wanting to lose touch with the front of the field, Fern passes many cars while driving in the dirt.  Rumor has it, the "white line" rule was penned after witnessing this little maneuver.

Autocross (wmv, 4.5 meg)  After replacing some front suspension parts on my racecar, I was anxious to test the car.  There was one of those Autocrosses going on at a parking lot not too far from my home, so I decided I'd give it a try.  I couldn't stand it.  After racing a car on a race track, this parking lot thing was about a slow as it gets (while still using the term "racing")  I think my time was 2nd or 3rd in my class.
